Let’s be honest—SpitnSawdust didn’t start with a grand plan, market research, or a pitch deck. It started with a bloke, a bar, and a barbecue.

Anthony White was the proud owner of a lively bar in Birmingham, pouring pints and pondering why industrial-style furniture was either wildly expensive, questionably sturdy, or just looked like it had been dragged out of a skip. Fed up and mildly sunburnt at a family BBQ, he got chatting to his neighbour—who just so happened to be a dab hand with a welder.

Cue a few burgers, a couple of beers, and one brilliant idea: "Why don’t we just make the furniture ourselves?"

That one idea turned into the first handcrafted table. Then a couple of stools. Then a full furniture range. Before long, people were asking where they could buy the bar furniture. So Anthony did what any self-respecting entrepreneur would do: he sold the bar, picked up a tape measure, and went full-time into the world of steel, wood, and stubbornly good design.

And just like that, SpitnSawdust was born—with sparks flying (literally) and sawdust everywhere (also literally).

Fast forward five years, and what started as a BBQ brainwave is now one of the UK’s fastest-growing industrial furniture companies. We've furnished everything from trendy cafés and tattoo parlours to sleek offices and homes that need a bit more grit and a bit less flat-pack.
